Newborn Session
How do we plan a portrait session when we don't even know when the little one will arrive?
First..we'll chat. I love it when you contact me before your baby is born - that's the best way to make sure we don't miss that fleeting newborn stage. We'll talk about when you're due, so I can leave space in my schedule to come to you soon after your baby is born. I'll find out about your family, and your style. What do you like to do? Where you love to spend time? We'll talk about location, outfits, and special belongings you may want to include in your pictures. I'll also ask you to give me a priority list of images you'd love to have. Is it the siblings together? An amazing family picture for your entryway? I want to come to the photo session on the same page as you. If you're not sure what you want? We'll talk about it, until we have the same vision for the session.
Next...please contact me as soon as possible after your baby is born. We'll book a date and time. Newborns are the easiest to photograph when they are about 6-14 days old, because they are usually sleep so deeply, allowing me to move them about and still capture those amazing curled-up, dreaming shots. If your session involves other children, we'll plan a time when they are at their best. We all know that rested and fed kiddos are happier!
Then...we have our photo session! .Newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home, and allow plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing the new arrival...all mixed in between time in front of the camera. I like to guide the photo session by setting up a shot with good lighting and then encouraging you to interact with your sweet new baby to capture a range of genuine expressions.
After that...you have a long week to wait while I cull through the images, choosing the best of the best and re-touching each one. You'll be presented with an online password-protected gallery. The website has an online shopping cart, so you can order from home any time of day or night.
